Checking in on the Jeopardy! Hosting Tryouts

The well-loved movie star Levar Burton, known for starring on Star Trek, Roots, Reading Rainbow, and the Next Generation, will be a guest host on Jeopardy this week.

However, his cruise to the stage was a bit distinct from the other personalities ‘striving’ to replace Alex Trebek at the lectern. When Burton revealed he indeed desired the gig, fans began an appeal that accumulated to more than 250,000 signatures, thereby catching the attention of the show producers.

Even though Trebek made organizing the show seem simple; evidently, it isn’t. Burton spoke to the AP, saying, ‘I’ve jumped off airplanes and trampled upon hot coals’. Jeopardy was a real challenge, maybe because of its singular nature and role in people’s daily lives.

In general: Some of the featured guest hosts have been NFL QB Aaron Rodgers, Goat Jeopardy. Others included Journalists Katie Couric and Anderson Cooper, Champion Ken Jennings, and actor Mayim Bialik.
